At Speed Van Lines, we are particularly aware that the success of a service provider relies not only on attracting quality personnel, but also on selecting people best suited to each client’s individual needs.
Our selection procedure includes an initial interview based on the satisfactory completion of an application for employment, an aptitude test, reference checks and a panel interview.
All potential employees are also screened for previous criminal convictions. Independent research has proven our people are vastly superior to the industry standard.
Our rates of pay are well above the legislated minimum wages, but it is not only this that attracts and retains our quality personnel – it is the pride of being part of a highly professional company that cares as much for its people as it does for its clients. Every staff member is valued for the special contribution that they make to our company and to the wider community.
We know and adhere to the Fundamental Human Rights in chapter 3 of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa. We encourage the involvement and participation of all staff members in the decisions, which affect them. At all times every company member is treated with respect, and all workplace practises are fair and in compliance with labour, health and safety legislation.
The success and growth of our company depends on the performance of every staff member, so we provide the necessary training and support. This ensures that our staff is able to reach their full potential, and contribute to the development of the company.
The company is committed to achieving employment equity by a process of affirmative action. This applies in recruitment and development strategies at all levels in the company.
We understand that as part if the wider society, our company’s survival depends on the economic and social well being of that society. We therefore have a responsibility to make an effective investment in our members, their dependants and communities.
By doing this we align ourselves with the governments Reconstruction and Development Programmes.
We do this appropriately and in consultation with all our stakeholders, keeping the company’s aim at heart at all times.
